The Kerala IAS Officers Association has condemned the action of the Kerala Students Union activists who doused Higher Secondary Director Keshvendra Kumar with discarded motor oil. The association termed the incident extremely unfortunate.

Addressing a press conference here, Association president Rajeev Sadanandan said the association had taken up the issue with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, who had assured them of strong action against the culprits.

Stating that it was the misuse of free access allowed to the public that had resulted in such an incident, Mr. Sadanandan said repetition of these kind of incidents would seriously affect the functioning of officials.

Speaking to The Hindu later, Mr. Sadanandan said the association had also requested the Chief Minister and the Home Minister to consider allowing personal security officers for IAS officers depending on the threat perception they had.
