: Raids conducted by a special squad headed by District Collector P.M. Ali Asgar Pasha in six private rice mills here on Saturday seized large quantity of ration rice being converted to fake brand for marketing at huge price in the open market. In a raid conducted personally by the District Collector in a private rice mill at Olassery, 10,000 kg of ration rice with FCI stamps were found packed in fake branded gunny bags for selling it in the open market.

In another private rice mill at Koduvayur, 11 gunny bags of FCI ration rice and 21 bags of Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) rice were seized. Here these ration rice was packed in gunny bags for sale in the open market at higher price. The raids were conducted for stopping the black marketing of ration rice. The seized rice was handed over to the district supply officers to take action against the persons involved.
