Hindu meet begins

The 66th Hindu religious meet organised by the Travancore Hindu Dharma Parishad began on the sandbed of river Pampa at Ranni on Sunday afternoon.

Swami Vedananda Saraswati, head of Peruva Gita Ashram, inaugurated the meet by lighting a ceremonial lamp. Excise and Ports Minister K. Babu presided over the inaugural function.

Kummanam Rajashekharan, Hindu Aikyavedi State general secretary, delivered the keynote address and Thadhathan, head of Palakkad Thapovarishta Ashram, delivered the message.

P.J. Kurien, MP; K. Jayavarma, president, Thiruvalla East Co-operative Bank; and P.N. Neelakantan Namboodiri, parishad president, spoke.

Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will inaugurate a meet on health and environment on Monday.
