Hindu organisations have taken exception to the statement on the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple issue made by Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan recently.

The Hindu Aikya Vedi described his statement on the Devaprasnam conducted in the temple as an onslaught on the religious sentiments of the Hindus and his allegation against Uthradam Tirunal Marthanda Varma, the head of the erstwhile Travancore royal family, as shame to cultural Kerala.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the Hindu Parliament contended that any bid to tarnish the image of the Maharajas of Travancore who were known for their integrity and simple life would not work.
