New line will connect Guruvayur to Thirunavaya

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The proposal for a railway line from Guruvayur to Tanur will be altered in view of objections to it. The new line will now connect Guruvayur to Thirunavaya on the existing line between Shoranur and Kozhikode.

The decision was taken during the discussions Union Minister of State for Railways E. Ahamed had with Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan and officials here on Wednesday. Mr. Ahamed and Mr. Achuthanandan told the media after the meeting that they had decided to speed up steps for acquisition of land for the Angamaly-Azhutha (near Sabarimala) railway line. Steps would be taken to address problems in the land acquisition for the Sabari line.

The land acquisition for the doubling of the Kayalamkulam-Ernakulam sector via Kottayam would be completed in six months.

Steps would also be taken to speed up land acquisition for the doubling of line between Ambalappuzha and Alappuzha.
