Guruvayur temple festival concludes

The 10-day-long festival at Guruvayur Sreekrishna Temple concluded on Friday with Arattu rites.

The idol of deity, which will be taken out only on the Arattu day, was taken in a procession to the Pazhukka Mandapam.

Deeparadhana was performed after that the idol was taken in a procession for the Arattu.

Hundreds of people took bath in the temple pond.

“Gramapradhakshinam” rites accompanied by Panchavadyam, procession of golden idols were other major rites of the festival.

Ottapradakshinam, which involved 11 rounds of running around the temple, was also conducted as part of the festival rites.

Meanwhile, thousands of people gathered at the temple to witness the Pallivetta rites on Thursday. The festival ended with the tantri lowering the ceremonial flag.
