THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Cooperative Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (KSCARDB) disbursed Rs.689.42 crore as loans to the farm and rural sectors in 2009-10, the bank said in a press release on Thursday.

These loans were disbursed through 49 primary cooperative banks. The amount disbursed in 2009-10 was 5.85 per cent more than that in the previous year.

In the matter of loan recovery also, the bank achieved an improved performance (88.41 per cent). The bank had utilised re-finance facility offered by institutions such as the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and the National Cooperative Development Corporation to mobilise the amount deployed to the rural sector. The farm sector received Rs.196.47 crore from the bank during the year, housing sector Rs.282.96 crore and rural industries Rs.90.77 crore. The bank also gave Rs.119.22 crore for small scale commercial ventures and other short term needs of the rural people.
