Thrissur: About 40 sovereigns of gold, the value of which comes to Rs. 4 lakh, was reported missing from a jeweller’s shop at Puthukad on Monday. A safe in the shop, owned by Shaju Damodaran of Ainchira House at Amballur, was found broken open. A big hole was bored into the rear wall of the building. Power connection to the building was cut off. A packet containing silver ornaments was found on the premises of the building. A jewellery workshop is located near the shop. Artisans employed there stay in a house nearby. Forensic experts examined the place.
