MALAPPURAM: The Adhinivesha Prathirodha Samiti has warned the State Government against turning the education sector into a trade fair where international investors can establish their monopoly through bargains.

A press statement issued here on Saturday by Samiti general secretary V.P. Vasudevan said that the international education meet to be held in Kochi in February would undo the achievements made by the State.

The modernisation in governance programme (MGP) was a step in that direction, he said.

He added that conducting the meet at Hotel Le Meridien, the venue where the Global Investor Meet took place three years ago, revealed the intentions of the Government.

Mr. Vasudevan said it was a conspiracy not only against the people of Kerala but also against the State's recent educational advancements.

He called upon students, teachers, cultural and political leaders to rise against the Government move.
