As many as 104 offices will coordinate distribution of coupons and gifts
A fully networked logistical support system has been put into place for the sixth season of the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) that will begin on December 15.
Offices have been set up in all the districts to coordinate the distribution of coupons, gifts, and other festival-related items to merchant establishments. Connected to these main hubs are multiple distribution centres spread across the districts from where retailers can easily collect the material.
Ninety such centres have been established, besides the 14 district offices. Training has been given to 104 hub managers who will oversee the operations.
A 30-line call centre based in Thiruvananthapuram has started working. Retail establishments can call the toll free number 1800-4255-2012 to place their orders for coupons and merchandise.
“We are making the most of the technology available to us. The goal is to make everything easy and hassle-free for registering retailers,” Minister for Tourism A.P. Anil Kumar said. “We want them to be ready and stocked up well in time for the season.”
“We have established more centres and spread them in such a way that the merchant establishments have access to at least one within a radius of 10 km,” GKSF Director U.V. Jose said in a release here.
Ernakulam has 10 such centres; Thiruvananthapuram and Malappuram nine each; Thrissur eight; Kozhikode and Kannur seven each; Alappuzha, Kottayam, Kollam and Palakkad six each; Pathanamthitta five; Idukki four; and Wayanad and Kasaragod three each. Coupons and gifts will begin arriving at these hubs by the first week of December and by the second week they will be distributed to those who have registered.
“Everything is being handled online. If a retailer puts in a request for coupons or merchandise, the material can be dispatched immediately to the nearest centre,” GKSF State coordinator V. Vijayan said.
