The Minister inaugurated the 23 {+r} {+d} district meeting

of Kerala Police Officers' Association.

KOCHI: The police should function by taking the public into confidence, failing which there would be criticism, said S. Sarma, Minister for Fisheries.

He was speaking after inaugurating the 23 {+r} {+d} district meeting of Kerala Police Officers' Association at EMS memorial town hall here on Saturday.

Community policing

Janamatri Suraksha Paddhati, the community policing initiative, was implemented by the State government with the aim to bring in participation of the public in the policing activity, he said.

District president of KPOA K. Lalji presided and Dominic Presentation, MLA, spoke.

Kerala High Court judge V.K. Mohanan inaugurated the seminar on “role of police in development of the nation” that followed. B. Sandhya, Inspector General of Police, Ernakulam Range, presented the subject and State secretary of Kerala Police Association C.R. Biju presided.

Delegates' meet

Deputy City Police Commissioner P.H. Ashraf inaugurated the delegates' meeting in the afternoon. Shamsu Illickal, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Special Branch; P.C. Kunjukunju, State joint secretary, KPOA; P.G. Anil Kumar, district secretary, KPA; and M.M. Mohanan, KPOA, district secretary, spoke.
