Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will lay the foundation stone for a ‘Freedom Struggle Memorial’, highlighting the events during the Independence struggle, on February 25, Minister for Culture K.C. Joseph has said.

A plan to set up an Independence Movement Historical Museum was also on the anvil, said Mr. Joseph.

He was speaking at the 33{+r}{+d}annual conference of the South Indian History Congress at the Department of History, Kariavattom Campus of the University of Kerala on Friday.

Inaugurating the conference, he said attempts to manipulate history and project false theories and controversies must be discouraged.

The function was also attended by Chiranjeevi J. Nirmal, K.M Panicker, T.K Raveendran and Robin Jeffrey.

The meet will conclude on Sunday.
