KOCHI: The local chapter of the free software group I-LUG will hold its first meeting after its name was changed to Indian Libre Users’ Group at the Jay’s Internet Club on Broadway on Sunday.
In a bid to carry forward the initiative to bring the free software community closer to teachers, the group will launch two programmes, community-based curriculum and vacation training for teachers and students.
The community-based curriculum has been intended to collaboratively design a programme of study involving the free software community. The objective is to create textbook-based educational content on the Internet with the collaboration of free software activists. “This should help students put to actual use what they have learnt,” said H. Sreenadh, I-LUG member.
