The Aluva police arrested four more persons in connection with a case of sexual abuse of a Class 9 student in Aluva. Rajaneesh, 28, of Kadamakudy was arrested on Wednesday.

Those arrested on Thursday were Arjun, 20, of Manappurath, Maveli Lane, Muppathadam; Manoj, 27, of Maveliparambu, Sahrudaya Nagar, Muppathadam; Shaifal, 23, Payyappally, near panchayat office, Muppathadam; and Hydrose, 25, Ambakudy, near Government School, Kadungallur.

Those arrested on Thursday were produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate-II and remanded.

Girl child rescued

The Town Central Police rescued a girl who was found engaged in begging, with the help of the Child Welfare Committee. The child was first placed with the Women’s Police Station and then shifted to Prateeksha Bhavan at Palluruthy. The police said the girl would be produced before the committee on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Njarakkal police said no specific complaint has been received so far regarding V.A. Ibrahim’s involvement in other cases of child sexual abuse.

Mr. Ibrahim, the teacher of Edavanakad HAHS School in Vypeen was arrested by Njarakkal police led by Sajeev K.M., Circle Inspector, on Wednesday. Mr. Ibrahim, who was wanted in connection with the sexual abuse of a student was on the run for nearly a month. The incident became a major issue when locals staged protests against the delay on the part of the police in booking the accused.
