The police and residents' associations are all set to revive the Police Residents' Initiative in District Ernakulam (PRIDE), an interactive platform between the two groups to sort out issues and streamline flow of information.
The first meeting of PRIDE this year will be held at the Renewal Centre, Kaloor on Saturday.
City Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham will review the progress of PRIDE so far and will outline the action plan for the year ahead.
PRIDE was formed seven years ago and was instrumental in making many police-public interactions —Janakeeyam, three editions of Subhayatra, Suvarnavarsham, Navodayam and Aspirations — a grand success. However, the movement lost momentum in between, mostly because of the split in the Ernakulam District Residents Association Apex Council (EDRAAC) and formation of Residents Apex Council Ernakulam (RACE). With office bearers of both organisations raising conflicting concepts at PRIDE meetings, the monthly meetings on every second Saturday was suspended for the last one-and-a-half year.
