Kerala State Folklore Akademi’s awards and fellowships were announced here on Tuesday by akademi chairman B. Muhammad Ahamad at a press conference.

The fellowships would be presented to R. Velu Asan, V. Subramanya Sarma, K.K. Balan Panicker and C.K. Gopalan Panikker.

Folklore awards would be presented to Pankajakshi Amma, Kothakulangara Mohanan, P. Mukunda Prasad, K. Krishnamoorthy Pulavar, C.K. Bhaskaran Payyannur, Royi Georogekutty, N. Narayanan, Pangode Murali, Sudhir Mulloorkara, Sajikumar Othara, T.R. Padmanabhan, A. Balakrishnan, Omsha, K.J. John, K.P. Paru, Raman Wayanad, Raghavan Karimbil, Koya Kappad, A.K. Venugopal Payyannur, V.V. Kunhikannan Panikkar, M. Bhaskaran, Girish Ambra, A.P. Thankamani, P.R. Ramesh, K.P. Raghavan Nair, Vaidyar Hamsa Madikkai, Sivadasan C.K., A.P. Balan, Nenikkam Payyannur, Mullankode Hamsa Khan, and Ramadasan Panikkar Payyannur.

Gurupuja awards would be bestowed on P.V. Balakrishnan Payyannur, S.R.D. Prasad, N.A. Govindan, L. Gangabhai, K. Kunhiraman, Pakkar Pannor, K. Kunhambu, A.P. Xavier Asan, P.P. Damodaran, Payyannur, M. Kkrishnan Panikkar, P.P. Kannaperuvannan, Raman Karnamoorthy, Sarasan C., Bhavani Amma, P.M. Viswambharan, Aikkal Kunhikannan, and Anthithiriyan.

A. Sathyanarayanan would be presented the award for writing a book on folklore and Ummu Salmath Kalathil, who won the first rank in M.A. Folklore Studies, would be honoured at the function.

The fellowships, awards and the Gurupuja awards carry cash prizes of Rs.15,000, Rs.7,500 and Rs.5,000, respectively.

The awards would be presented at a function in Kozhikode in the first week of December, Mr. Ahamad said.
