: The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) under the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with All India Radio, Kannur, and the Department of Music, Kannur University, will organise a one-day seminar and folk arts festival on the Swamy Anandathirtha campus of Kannur University at Payyannur on August 21.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Saturday, Balakrishnan Koyyal, programme head, Akashvani, said the performance session would include ‘Maruthukali’, ‘Poorakkali’, ‘Singarimelam’,

‘Thidambunritham’, ‘Margamkali’, ‘Nattippattu’, ‘Sarpamthullal’ and ‘Oppana’. The programme will be inaugurated by P.K.. Michael Tharakan, Vice-Chancellor, Kannur University.

Experts in folklore will present papers at the seminar. The programme has been organised as a move to encourage and document folk arts of the State.
