: A flash hartal was called by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at 9 a.m. on Tuesday in protest against the arrest of Sangh Parivar activists who blocked the gates of the Palakkad municipality for issuing a stop-memo on the renovation of a temple at Jainimedu in Palakkad town.The police let off the arrested activists by afternoon. The hartal supporters forced shops to be closed and threw stones on some buses, including a KSRTC bus, at Melamuri. Private bus operators were forced to stop services, which put many people to hardship. Meanwhile, the Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi condemned the flash hartal.
