Four-day event, in honour of P.M. Taj, includes drama fete and painting expo

Kozhikode: A whole range of events, including a State-level drama contest, will be organised from July 26 to 29 here to relive the memories of noted playwright P.M. Taj. The programmes will be held under the aegis of Purogamana Kala Sahithya Sanghom (PKSS) and P.M. Taj Memorial Committee.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, organising committee general convener V.T. Suresh said the programmes would begin with the staging of street-plays at different venues, including the Central Library premises in the city, on July 26.

A painting exhibition, workshop on children’s theatre, documentary and tele-film screening, cultural seminar, discussions on art and culture and honouring of theatre and film activists are some of the events to be hel during the four-day meet.

Actor and writer V.K. Sreeraman will inaugurate the event at the Town Hall here at 5.30 p.m. on July 27. Film director Priyanandan, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi secretary Prabhakaran Pazhassi and Mayor M. Bhaskaran will speak.

PKSS State president and novelist U.A. Khader will inaugurate the cultural meet and seminar on July 28. PKSS general secretary V.N. Murali, writers P. Vatsala, P.K. Pokkar and N.V.P. Unnithiri will speak. Social critic Sukumar Azhikode will inaugurate the Taj Memorial Meet on July 29. PKSS State secretary K.E.N. Kunhahammed will deliver the Taj memorial speech. Film director P.T. Kunhu Muhammed, Kerala Sahithya Akademi secretary Purushan Kadalundi and film critic G.P. Ramachandran will be present .
