Devotees thronged the Kottiyur temple at Kottiyur here on Saturday to offer prayers and attend rituals held as part of the month-long Vaishakha festival.

The Vaishakha festival of the temple that draws huge number of devotees from the region and the neighbouring areas is a major religious event in the district.

Rohini puja, an important ritual in the temple during the festival, was held on the day.

Elephants were lined-up on the temple premises as part of the ‘Sheeveli ezhunnallath’ during the festival. The festival will conclude on June 19.
