Kin of children killed in monsoon-related accidents receive aid

Thiruvananthapuram: Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran on Tuesday handed over the assistance promised by the Government to the families of Nadira and Sruthi, who were killed in monsoon-related incidents in the city recently.

While Nadira, 19, was crushed to death under a tree at East Fort, Sruthi, 3, was carried away by the strong current after she fell into the Killi river.

The Minister visited the houses of the two children at Thittakudy and Kamaleswaram and handed over the assistance of Rs.50,000 each to the families. Sruthi's father, Ajithkumar, and Nadira's father, Syed Hassan, received the assistance from the Government..

The Government had sanctioned the assistance on the basis of a memorandum submitted by Thiruvananthapuram East MLA V. Sivankutty.

The Minister was accompanied by Mr. Sivankutty, Pannian Ravindran, MP, councillors Saraswathi Bai and Sreeja, Revenue Divisional Officer Mohankumar and Revenue officials.
