Minister for Fisheries and Registration S. Sarma has said that adalats to settle complaints over the notified fair value of land for registration purposes will be held in all District Collectorates in the State by January 31. Speaking after the inauguration of a new building for the Sub-Registrar Office at Kuthiathode here on Thursday, Mr. Sarma said the respective District Collectors were the authorities for appeals on fair value.
Earlier, the appeals had to be submitted within one month of the value being notified. However, the authority could, as of now, consider appeals submitted within one year of notification. The government was planning to do away with this time limit as well, he said.
Stating that efforts were on to streamline the system to ensure fair value for land and to make land deals hassle-free for the common man without being fleeced by dubious agents, the Minister said the Left Democratic Front (LDF) had succeeded in bringing down the large-scale malpractices of the land mafia by 99 per cent.
