KOCHI: District Collector M. Beena has said that Ernakulam will create history in this year’s Grand Kerala Shopping Festival both in terms of visitors and turnover of participating firms.
Compared to last year there was more than a three-fold increase in the number of trade organisations participating in the fete in the district, she observed in a statement. Offering more prizes and restructuring their award were favourable factors for the district, she said.
The Collector was felicitated at the State level inauguration of the festival held in Kannur on Tuesday for organising the fete better than all other districts in the State. Devaswom Minister Kadannappally Ramachandran presented the Collector with a memento. District Industries Centre general manager Sebastian Pothanppilly was also felicitated on the occasion.
Out of the 875 participants in the district, 50 were golden registrants and the rest were silver partners. The Collector called for concerted efforts on the part of officials in the industries, tourism, and taxes departments and trade organisations for making the fete a great success.
