Enrolment for the Aadhaar UID (Unique Identity) project has crossed the 5,000 mark in the district.
At present, enrolment is under way in Tripunithura, where it was launched on Monday. Enrolment is being carried out using seven sets of laptops and biometric devices alongside pre-enrolment on the third floor of the Tripunithura municipal office. It will last till August 28.
Already enrolment drive had been held in Thrikkakara and the Nedumbassery airport.
Meanwhile, pre-enrolment drive is progressing in four other places in the district simultaneously – Pattimattam, Ramamangalam, Piravom, and Vazhakkulam.
Enrolment drive in Tripunithura will be followed by Pattimattam from August 29 to September 1.
Thereafter, enrolment drive will be organised in two places simultaneously. As such, the process will be held in Ramamangalam and Piravom for four days from September 2 followed by Vazhakkulam from September 5 to 8.
Training for entrepreneurs to qualify as certified operators under Aadhaar is also under way. By Thursday, the number of certified operators in the district will touch 90.
The district already has 17 sets of biometric devices with another three in the offing. This will enable the Akshaya entrepreneurs in the district to launch enrolments in multiple venues shortly.
Citizens need to turn up with their identity and address proof at the respective enrolment centres. Without waiting for the volunteers to come to them to collect their details, citizens can walk in to the nearest Akshaya centre and provide their details in the requisite form. This will save them much time when they go to the enrolment centre later, as entering the details of the citizen consumed three-fourth of the enrolment time. Pre-enrolment data collection is also being undertaken simultaneously using Kudumbasree volunteers.
Between 400 and 500 persons can be enrolled in a day provided their data had already been entered in the system during the pre-enrolment. Otherwise it would be limited to 250 enrolments a day.
