Engineering students develop smart refrigerator

A 10-member group, Mechanical Engineering students of the Carmel Engineering College, Perinad, near here, has developed a refrigerator which can regulate power consumption.

The air curtain refrigerator (ACRO), as they call it, can considerably reduce power consumption with the help of a blower system, a programmable electronic control unit, and special heat sensors, they told a press conference here on Monday.

The team comprised Aby K. Peter, Abil Sam, Abraham Thomson, Arun Sadan, Aswin S. Nair, Jobin Johnson, Manu Mathew, Nichal Prakash, Renjith G. Jacob, and Sumin Sunny, all in the final year of their course.
