National-level technical and cultural fete to begin on Friday
The Government College of Engineering at Mangattuparamba will organise ‘Xplore 13,’ a national-level technical and cultural fete, here from February 15.
This is the third such event being organised by the college once in three years. P. Karunakaran, MP, will inaugurate the event.
K. Radhakrishnan, former Director of Operations, Keltron Component Complex, will inaugurate the technical leg of the festival.
Rajeev Pant, Director, National Institute of Fashion Technology, will deliver the keynote address. K.C. Raveendranathan, Principal, will preside over the function.
The Departments of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Computer Science, Robotics, and Electronics will take part in the various exhibitions and competitions.
Stalls of the Indian Navy; Indian Space Research Organisation; the Medical College, Kozhikode; Kerala Police, Kerala State Electricity Board; Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.; and the Agency for Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Technology will be put up at the venue.
About 1,000 registrations from nearly 100 colleges had been received, the organisers said. The ‘Socio-engineer quizzard’ winner will get a prize money of Rs. 50,000.
The construction of a two-storey building in a single day and a foldable building by the students of Civil Engineering, an e-park of the Electronics and Communications Department, smart room, smart home, windmill, and working models of the Kochi metro and Kozhikode monorail would be the other attractions.
Naresh Iyer, pianist Stephen Devassi, and music director Alphonse will lead a music show on February 16. The entry would be to those with passes.
