To transform them into employability centres
Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Kodikunnil Suresh has said that employment exchanges will be modernised to equip them to cater to contemporary requirements in the job sector.
Inaugurating the Kannur Job Fest – 2013 organised by the District Employment Exchange in association with the College of Commerce here on Friday, the Minister said the government was planning to transform the employment exchanges in the country into employability centres.
The Central government was planning to pass a Bill in this regard. With the enactment of the Bill, the employment exchange would be rechristened Employment Guidance and Career Information Centre. The Minister said a web portal would be opened to help job-seekers and employers. It could be used by job-seekers to register their names and by the employers to select suitable candidates.
