KOCHI: A seminar on suicide prevention held in the city recently stressed the need to build a practice of active listening within the family itself that would ultimately help to reduce tension and distress among the family members.

Organised jointly by Maithri, an NGO working in the field of suicide prevention, Rajagiri College of Social Sciences and the Rotary Club, Kalamassery, the seminar focussed on the ‘importance of listening in preventing suicide’

V.B. Rajan, president of the Rotary Club, inaugurated the seminar. Maithri has extended succour to about 20,000 distress callers in the past 13 years. The service of Maithri can be accessed at the number 0484-2540 530.
