Kozhikode: Emirates Airlines’ first flight to Kozhikode touched down at Calicut International Airport at Karipur at 7.50 on Monday.

Emirates will operate six flights a week to Kozhikode. The Dubai-based airline now operates flights to Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

A high-level Emirates delegation led by Salem Obaidalla, senior vice-president (commercial operations for West Asia Indian Ocean and Africa), travelled on the first flight along with 278 passengers.

The passengers were received by Orhan Abbas, Emirates’ vice-president in India and Nepal, officials of Calicut airport, P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP., P. Zakeer, president, Malabar Chamber of Commerce, and N.E. Balakrishna Marar, president, Calicut Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Introductory fares of Rs.7,500 (one way) and Rs.14,995 (return fare) in economy class from Kozhikode to Dubai and Rs.30,000 for a business class return ticket will be valid till August 15. The flight leaves Dubai at 2.15 p.m. and arrives in Kozhikode at 7.50 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It would leave at 9.20 p.m. and reach Dubai at 11.40 p.m. on these days.

On Thursdays and Saturdays, the flight departs from Dubai at 3.30 a.m. and arrives in Kozhikode at 9.05 a.m. It would leave Kozhikode at 10.35 a.m. and land in Dubai a 12.55 p.m.
