An Air India Express aircraft from Kochi to Bahrain made an emergency landing at the international airport here on Sunday evening, after a passenger on board complained of sickness.

Officials said that the flight IX 473, operating in the Kochi-Kozhikode-Bahrain-Doha sector landed here after the crew on board had alerted the staff at the Air Traffic Control (ATC) authorities of a medical emergency on board.

The flight originated from Kochi by 2.20 p.m., resumed its onward journey from Kozhikode by 5.30 p.m. However, the flight returned after about 45 minutes of flying and it touched down here by 6.15 p.m. even as the security and rescue officials took their positions accordingly.

The passenger, Moideenkutty of Malappuram, was rushed to a private hospital nearby where his condition was said to be stable.
