Poll observer for the Pathanamthitta Lok Sabha constituency Roopeshkumar on Sunday held discussions with District Collector S. Harikishore on the arrangements for the elections to be held on April 10.

The observer also visited the election control room, media centre attached to the Information and Public Relations Department, call centre, and the help desk at the Collectorate on Sunday.

Mr. Roopeshkumar had on Saturday visited a training class under way for staff selected for election duty at Mar Thoma Higher Secondary School here to give instructions to the officials.

1,375 posters removed

Meanwhile, the Anti-Defacement Squads attached to the District Election Office here on Sunday removed as many as 1,375 posters, 55 banners, and 67 flex boards installed at different places in the constituency for violating the guidelines of the Election Commission.

Official sources said the squads would continue the defacement drive across the constituency to check violation of rules.

21 nominations so far

A total of 21 candidates had filed nominations in the constituency when the deadline for filing nominations ended on Saturday, an official statement here said.
