IN PROTEST MODE:SFI activists being lathicharged by the police in Alappuzha on Thursday during their protest against hike in bus fares.

At least eight SFI activists including its district secretary, R. Rahul and State committee member, H. Rafeeq were injured when police resorted to lathicharge to disperse SFI activists protesting against the hike in bus concession fares for students.

The protesting students tried to pull down the barricade put up by the police in front of the district collectorate as soon as the march reached there.

The police lathicharged the students after surrounding them. Those injured were admitted to the General Hospital here.

The activists, other than those were injured, were arrested and removed by the police.
