Akshaya activities to be strengthened

The e-District project of the Kerala State IT Mission will be replicated in all the districts of the State, Minister for Information Technology P.K. Kunhalikutty has said.

He was inaugurating the valedictory programme of the Akshaya Day celebrations held here on Monday.

The government will extend all support to strengthen Akshaya activities and inspire more people to take up self-employment. It will ensure that the problems faced by Akshaya entrepreneurs are mitigated, a press note issued here said.

Mr. Kunhalikutty expressed happiness at the growth of Akshaya since its inception, and pointed out that Kerala was the first State that had successfully implemented the Citizen Services Centres.

The strength of Akshaya needed to be recognised as it was the project of the future that envisaged paperless offices and services available at the click of a mouse.

“Today, other States and various countries are consulting us to replicate this model in their respective locations, and this is a matter of great pride to all of us,” the press note quoted Mr. Kunhalikutty as saying.

The Minister released the Akshaya souvenir at the valedictory function. K.S. Srinivasan, Special Secretary, Information Technology; A .Shajahan, Director, Kerala State IT Mission; and over 100 Akshaya entrepreneurs from across the State were present.

Awards given away

The entrepreneurs were awarded for the best e-governance services.

The teams from Wayanad and Pathanamthitta bagged the awards for the best districts that logged the highest number of enrolment, per team, for ‘Aadhar' registration.

The best e-ticketing service award went to S. Sajikumar from Thiruvananthapuram. The best e-pay services award was bagged by Abdul Salam from Malappuram, the online ration card registration award by Rajesh from Kasaragod, the KNRK award by Anand from Kollam, and the e-Grantz service award by Archana from Thiruvananthapuram.

The award for the best e-learning initiatives for Intel learn was given to Jimmi Joseph from Wayanad, and the IGNOU award to Fazeela from Kasaragod, the press note added.
