THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) will observe a ‘protest evening’ on Thursday against the alleged moves by the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Youth Congress to unleash violence in the State, DYFI State president M.B. Rajesh and State secretary T.V. Rajesh said here on Sunday.

The hartal called by the UDF was the latest instance of it, they alleged. The hartal was organised to divert attention from the use of ‘quotation gangs’ (hired attackers) in Kannur by the Congress.

People who ventured out on the hartal day were attacked by the organisers. Even the functioning of the office of the Advocate-General was disrupted, they said in a statement. — Special Correspondent
