KASARAGOD: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) on Tuesday took out a brotherhood youth parade in the violence-hit areas of the town to instil confidence among the public.

The march began from Thalangara in the morning and passed through various parts of the town, to end on the beach at 5 p.m. A large number of DYFI volunteers took part in the march.

DYFI State president M.B. Rajesh, who inaugurated the march, said communal forces and mafia groups engaged in illegal activities were behind the recent violence in Kasaragod.

The police should expose the nexus between the mafia and the communal forces, he said.

While the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh used to start violence in other places, in Kasaragod, it was the National Development Front which started the killings, Mr. Rajesh said. It was innocent persons who lost their lives, he said.
