PATHANAMTHITTA: The district unit of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) on Monday launched a 24-hour fast in front of the Mini Civil Station here in protest against the alleged indifference of the Union government towards the steep rice in price of essential commodities.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) district secretary K. Ananthagopan inaugurated the fast at 10 a.m. DYFI district president Roy Philip presided.

N. Sajikumar, DYFI district secretary; Omalloor Sankaran and P.J. Ajayakumar, district panchayat members; spoke.
