The city police registered 16 cases of rash driving on Tuesday as part of its drive against overspeeding in the city. The drive was launched after two persons were killed in accidents caused due to overspeeding two-wheelers in the city earlier this month.

The police also charged 22 persons with drunk driving, and 15 persons with overspeeding on two-wheelers. Driving licences of 13 persons were cancelled during the drive.

The police collected Rs.2.6 lakh in fines on Tuesday alone. City police Commissioner K.G. James said that the crackdown on rash driving would continue in the coming days.
