Verdict likely to be out by 9.30 a.m. on Friday
The electoral verdict of all the Assembly constituencies in the district is expected to be out by 9.30 a.m. on Friday, District Collector Dinesh Arora has said.
Talking to presspersons during a dress rehearsal for election officials at the counting centre at Mar Ivanios Vidya Nagar here on Wednesday, Mr. Arora said the counting of votes would begin at 8 a.m. The first lead would be known by 8.20 a.m.
Each counting centre would have 15 tables. One round would be over when all the tables complete one turn. Each electronic voting machine would first display the total votes polled. When the result button would be pressed, the machine would display the votes polled by each candidate, he said.
The announcement of results would be computer controlled. The Election Commission was using a special software for the purpose. The voting pattern would be accessible on completion of each round.
The counting centres and the constituencies are as follows: Mar Ivanios College- Varkala, Attingal, Chirayinkeezhu and Kazhakuttam; Mar Baselios College auditorium- Vattiyurkavu, Thiruvananthapuram, Nemom and Kovalam; Sarvodaya Vidyalaya Silver Jubilee auditorium- Neyyattinkara, Parassala and Kattakada; St. John's Higher Secondary School- Nedumangad, Vamanapuram and Aruvikkara.
Mr. Arora said parking of vehicles and assembly of people would be banned on the premises of the Mar Ivanios Vidya Nagar from Thursday midnight to Friday noon.
Counting supervisors, assistants, static and micro observers, returning officers and other employees participated in the dress rehearsal. Mr. Arora reviewed the three-tier security system on the campus.
