Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said the police canine wing will be strengthened. He was addressing a passing-out parade of 20 dogs and 38 handlers trained at the Kerala Police Academy here on Thursday. “Canine units in each district will be strengthened so that investigation of cases does not suffer,” he said.

He stated that the police cyber cell will be given more facilities. “Cyber crimes are on the rise. Hence, the cell needs to be equipped suitably,” he added. Director General of Police Jacob Punnoose, Inspector General of Police (Thrissur Range) B. S. Mohammed Yasin, and Jose George, director, Kerala Police Academy, were present on the occasion. A demonstration of obedience training for police dogs was presented.
