Many patients forced to turn back

Kasaragod: Local people were affected by the State-wide strike called by Government doctors demanding a rise in salary. There was a moderate crowd at Taluk Hospital and many had to return back.

Only casualty was working with a doctor to treat and refer emergency cases.

Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) district president Jose Dcruz said that the strike would continue till the Government agreed to fulfil their demand of increase in basic pay.

He added that voluntary doctors who were working without accepting the day's pay opened the casualty.

Patients were unhappy and Madhavi from Paika said she came since the doctor had told her so and she did not know that there would be a strike.

Another lady, Hasina, a beedi-maker, said she had come to have her X-ray shown and this kind of strike affected people like her who depended on Government hospitals.
