It also decides to associate with LDF

A dissident faction of the Socialist Janata (Democratic), led by K. Krishnankutty, which met here on Saturday, decided to remove M.P. Veerendrakumar from the post of party State president. The faction also decided to associate with the LDF.

Of the 140 members of the party State council, 78 took part in today’s meeting, Mr. Krishnankutty claimed. “We hold the majority and the resolutions adopted at our meeting are binding,” he said.

On June 17, the State committee of the SJ(D) announced that Mr. Krishnankutty and M.K. Premnath, former MLA, had been expelled for anti-party activities. The recommendation of the State leadership to expel the two leaders from the primary membership of the party was ratified by the State committee. A decision was also taken to dissolve the party’s Palakkad district committee for supporting the “rebel activities” of Mr. Krishnankutty.

“Mr. Veerendrakumar’s anti-LDF and anti-capitalist positions are ludicrous. When the Chittur seat was denied to the SJ(D) for the Assembly elections, he had held talks with the LDF. He projects the image of an anti-globalisation, anti-capitalist crusader but his stand on issues related to a soft-drink giant and his association with a prominent English-language national newspaper reveal his double standard,’’ he said.
