The Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishath unit here will organise a public debate on solid-waste management from 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The venue is the new bus stand premises. The discussion will focus on reaching a unanimous decision on solving the problems faced in waste disposal in the town, with people living near the dumping grounds coming out in protest. Setting up of decentralised waste-treatment plants, ban on non-reusable carry-bags, reducing the use of plastic bags, and consequences of dumping waste on the sea shore would be the points discussed.
