KOZHIKODE: The District Centre for English (DCE), Kozhikode, is scaling up its training activities as part of the government’s efforts to make it a ‘centre of excellence.’ The training modules of the DCE are now meant only for upper primary and high school teachers, head masters, Assistant Education Officers and District Education Officers.
DCE chief tutor N.K. Balan said training in soft-skills for housewives, lawyers and engineering graduates would begin soon. The centre would also offer coaching for IELTS and TOEFL examinations.
The centre would also offer ‘bridge courses’ for those who pass SSLC and plus two to enable them to handle English language better. The Kozhikode centre, located on the campus of the Government Teacher Training Institute, Nadakkavu, started functioning in 1997.
