The preliminary report on data collected from schools across the State, as part of a project undertaken by the General Education Department, will be submitted to the State government by November 30.

A statement released by the State Institute of Educational Management and Training (SIEMAT) - Kerala said preparation of district-level school data reports collated by the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) would be completed by December.

The project is being jointly implemented by the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI), SIEMAT, IT@School Project and the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA). It is intended to help the government in planning and framing education policies, implementation of various education schemes like Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act and assessing the performance and activities of all recognised schools in the State. The project will cover pre-primary, LP, UP, HS, HSS, VHSS, Fisheries School, TTI and language TTIs in government, aided and recognised unaided sectors.

Under the project, heads of institutions have been asked to fill 19 pro formas on ten categories such as general data on the school, data on staff, students, infrastructure, study materials, development activities, children with special needs, noon meal programme, scholarships and grants availed by schools.

A committee chaired by Director of Public Instructions will monitor the implementation of the project at the State level.
