MALAPPURAM: The Darul Huda Islamic Academy at Chemmad near Tirurangadi made history on Sunday when 105 of its students, who completed 12 years of study for Moulavi Hafil Hudavi, were awarded the degrees.
With the passing out of the 10th batch of Hudavis, Darul Huda Islamic Academy has almost become the flagship institution of the Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama.
Inaugurating the convocation and the valedictory session, Panakkad Sayed Mohammedali Shihab Thangal, State president of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), called upon people to give utmost importance to education.
“Education alone can lead a society to enlightenment,” he told a mammoth audience.
“We must encourage all such educational ventures,” he added.
Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal, president of Darul Huda Islamic Academy, presided over the function. Cherussery Zainuddeen Musliar, Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama general secretary and principal of Darul Huda Islamic Academy, delivered the convocation address.
C. Kunhappu Haji, Darul Huda general secretary, welcomed the gathering.
Koran scholar Rahmatullah Moothedam delivered the keynote address. Union Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed was the chief guest on the occasion.
Kashiful Huda, Islamic scholar from Florida, US, inaugurated the Da’wa conference on Sunday morning. Moulana Mustaqeem Faizi from Bihar spoke on “Da’wa and Islamic awareness in modern India.” Sayee Hudawi spoke on “Da’wa in Kerala and North India.”
