The second State conference of the Indian Union Dalit League (IUDL), a feeder organisation of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), will be held in the city on May 6, 7 and 8.

Welcome committee chairman and former Minister K. Kutty Ahamed Kutty told reporters here on Thursday that the proceedings would begin at 9 a.m. on May 6 at the tomb of M. Chadayan, former MLA, in Kannur where his relatives would hand over the flag to be hoisted at the conference venue to IUDL State treasurer Balan. Kannur district IUML president V.K. Abdul Khader Moulavi would inaugurate the flag procession later.

The flagpole for the conference would be brought from the house of K.P. Raman Master at Vengara in Malappuram district by IUDL State secretary M.P. Gopi. IUML Malappuram district secretary Abdul Hameed would inaugurate the flagpole rally. IUDL State president U.C. Raman would hoist the flag at Muthalakkulam Maidan at 5 p.m.

Mr. Raman said a rally starting from Swapnanagari at 5 p.m. on May 7 would pass through Mavoor Road, Bank Road and Mananchira to conclude at Muthalakkualm grounds where IUML State president Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal would inaugurate a public meet at 7 p.m. Union Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Human Resource Development E. Ahamed, Ministers P.K. Kunhalikutty, M.K. Muneer, P.K. Abdu Rabb, and M. Ali would address the gathering.
