The Yogakshema Sabha has decried the Travancore Devaswom Board's decision to prohibit acceptance of ‘dakshina' by priests at temples attached to the board. At a press meet on Wednesday, Yogakshema Sabha president Akeeramon Kalidasa Bhattathiri, said ‘dakshina' was considered an offering to the ‘guru' and the Indian tradition attached much importance to the tradition. “It is the right of a devotee to give ‘dakshina' to a priest while accepting ‘prasadom' from the latter at a temple. The TDB is guilty of hurting religious sentiments of the devotees by imposing restrictions in this regard,” Mr. Bhattathiri said.
He has called upon the TDB to withdraw the decision, failing with the Sabha would launch an agitation against it.
