The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2011 conducted by the Cochin University of Science and Technology for admissions to its various B.Tech. programmes was held in 86 venues across the country on Saturday.

About 32,000 students appeared for the test. An official release said that the test was held in 31 venues outside the State.

The university registered a 20 per cent increase in the number of registered candidates compared to last year. The CAT score will be the criterion for this year's B.Tech. admission. Marks scored at the Plus-Two level will not be considered for preparing the rank list.

Results of CAT will be announced in the third week of May. The test for all the postgraduate programmes will be held on Sunday at all the district headquarters in the State, the release said.
