The district administration has prohibited overcrowding on buildings during Thrissur Pooram celebrations.

On the basis of the reports of the Public Works Department, the district administration has identified 17 buildings in the city where overcrowding would pose safety risks. The buildings are Bata Buildings, Round North; Francis Taxi Building; Moorthy's Café Building; Polymer Building; Radhakrishna Hotel; Mar Aprem Kurie Company; Meenakshi Building; Elite Building; Ovungal Building, M.O. Road; C.V. Stores, Round West; Hantex Building, Round West; Padikkala Building, Round West; A.P. Joseph Opticals; Kshemavilasam Building, Round North; SIB Buildings, CSB Building, and Jose Theatre Building, Round North.

District Collector P.G. Thomas said the owners of the buildings should be aware of safe occupancy number limits for the buildings.

“Overcrowding puts the lives of all people on the premises of the buildings at risk,” he added.
