The flower show organised by the Rotary Club of Calicut Smart City at the Marine Grounds on the Kozhikode beach has been attracting huge crowds.
An exhibition of more than a hundred varieties of herbs by the Parappanad Herbal Garden is a major attraction of the show which also features a wide range of flowering plants such as euphoria, adenium, orchids, bougainvilleas, roses, dahlias, chrysanthemums and so on.
There are a number of stalls selling seeds of flowering plants as well as seedlings grown in pots, which are a huge hit among the visitors.
On the sidelines of the flower show, an exhibition of biogas plants, induction cook ware, sweets, furniture and even fancy ornaments has been arranged.
A food festival of variety food items, live cultural programmes and play area for kids are the added attractions.
Best garden competition for residents’ associations; contests in vegetable carving, flower decoration and painting, dancing carnival, Voice of Malabar and super band contests, competitions for kids, comedy contest, Mehendi contest, Mappilapattu contest, and Pushparaja - Pushparani contest are arranged on different days of the show.
The show will conclude on February 3.
